Family room and kitchen remodel idea. The project proposes an updated look complete with new flooring and wall finishes, as well as a whole new lighting scheme based on the functional layout of the space.
The choice of furniture is in line with the client’s likings of farmhouse style. The design has a refined rustic appeal with contemporary finishes and details, and a focus on natural materials. The color scheme is delicate and balanced. White is the predominant color that can be found in the wall finishes, as well as in kitchen cabinets and window treatments. The floor is set in dark wood vinyl finish. Black metal details can be seen throughout the space, as they stand out against the lighter shades that dominate in the design.
The kitchen will have all new cabinets but the family will keep their current kitchen appliances such as side-by-side fridge, gas range and dishwasher. The new kitchen cabinets are set in two main colors – white and dark grey. The doors are shaker style and the wall cabinet above the sink has a more decorative look with glass panels The countertop is designed in white quarts, and the kitchen backsplash features a white quartz strip at the bottom with diamond patterned mosaic tiles above. The crown molding on top of the wall cabinets puts the final touch in the kitchen redesign.
A counter height bar counter is designed at the end of the kitchen area. It features three stools and pendant lights. Recessed downlights are the main source of light in the kitchen area. Optional LED strips in the bottom of the wall cabinets are proposed as additional task lighting.
The dining area features a large dining table and 8 wishbone chairs made of black bentwood with soft woven seats. A shelving unit with a metal frame and wood shelves can be found in the corner of the room. Two chandeliers can be seen above the dining table, they are made of black steel and dark stained wood.
LIVING ROOM AREA
The living room area features a sitting and entertainment area complete with a large sectional sofa, a coffee table and a TV console. A patterned area rug and a whole bunch of throw pillows in contrasting colors put the final touch in the living room area design. A wall ceiling with integrated LED lighting is the main source of artificial light in the room. A pair of table lamps placed on a console table behind the sofa will provide more light when needed.
The living room area also features a wet bar area that takes up a large niche at the end of the room. The cabinets are similar in design to the kitchen cabinets – with white colored shaker style doors, glass door wall cabinets, crown moldings and wall shelves. The wet bar also features a small sink and a built-in wine cooler. Lighting options include recessed downlights and undercabinet LED strips.
