Little by little, interior design sets itself as a popular professional service. Nonetheless, it is still perceived by some as too expensive and therefore – exclusive.
After all, is interior design a luxury or necessity?
The truth is somewhere in between.
It is indeed possible to furnish a new… home all by ourselves. However, there are some undisputed advantages to hiring an interior designer or architect – better functionality and increased aesthetic value for example. An interior designer, being an expert in their field, would be able to propose ideas, that a non-professional would never even be able to come up with. This is because a professional designer has a better knowledge of basic design principles, of the best practices and the most recent trends and tech. At the same time, the cost of an interior design project is not at all that frightening as you might think. Interior design does come at a price, however. A lot of time, effort and creative energy are put into a design project, and it is impossible for it to be all free. Still, the benefits that a good design brings to the table are definitely worth the extra charge.
Professional experience shows us that the cost of an interior design project makes up an insignificant percentage (usually around 5%) of the the total cost on construction and renovation works.
But let’s speak in figures. Here’s an actual example – recently, some clients wanted to spend about 15 000 BGN on a low-budget living room, hallway and bathroom remodel in an old apartment. They spent about 800 BGN on an interior design project with 3D renderings and detailed plans. You can check out the project here until the remodel is finished and we are ready to show you some real photos.
What did the clients get for their money?
First of all – a carefully thought-out functional layout.
Second – a concept design that matched their needs, requirements and preferences.
Third -the opportunity to actually compare different design options and pick out the one they like best.
In addition to all that – a whole lot of professional advice, detailed plans, quantitative accounts and purchase information about all the items that were in the project.
By only spending a little cash, the clients saved time and effort, and most probably even money because the detailed project practically eliminates the probability that extra costs will occur due to lapses and mistakes
It may be recommended to hire a professional consultant to design your home, but it is absolutely mandatory to get one to design a commercial space.
Public locations take in lots of visitors on a daily basis, so it is essential that they work well and look great, too. The aesthetic design is particularly significant when it comes to a business location that has to generate some income – a boutique, bar, hotel or an office for example.
People tend to judge a book by its cover and interior design can actually be considered the face of any company. Market economy and great competition make it ever so important that commercial spaces look absolutely amazing and are comfortable for their customers. In this case, an interior design project is not just an expense but an investment that can really pay off in the future.
What about you? Have you ever used the services of an interior designer or do you plan to?
