A design idea for a complete remodel of the second floor in an old house on the outskirts of Sofia. The design proposal is set in bright colors and natural materials, as per the clients’ specific instructions. The main purpose of the project is to suggest and idea for a low-budget redesign that is simple, yet cozy and packed with style.

A HOME OFFICE takes up two levels on the second floor. It is a transitional space that also leads to the two bedrooms. The working area is located in the far end by the window and is separated from the rest of the space by a tall bookcase. The L-shaped desk is equipped with a computer case and storage units. Additional shelving units are provided along the side wall, and a reading corner is designed at the back of the room, as well. It is furnished with a yellow armchair and a round table, and finished with a round shaggy rug. The second level of the home office space is designed as a recreation area. It is furnished with two pouf chairs and a patterned carpet. The whole space is set in warm hues and solid wood.

The BEDROOM is tight but it features all amenities – it is furnished with a storage bed with a bedside table, a wardrobe with a mirror door, and a dressing table with a TV unit. The furnishings are designed in dark wood that stands out against an oak parquet floor and painted walls. The orange curtains add more color to the design. The shaggy carpet under the bed makes the whole room more cozy and inviting.

The KIDS’ BEDROOM will serve as a guest room initially, so it is designed in a way that can accommodate both purposes. It is colorful and cheery, and is equally suitable for girls and boys. It is furnished with a pair of upholstered beds, a drawer locker and a wardrobe. A play area is also provided in the middle of the room. The space is illuminated with wall sconces along the accent wall behind the beds.
