DeNaya | Peace and Harmony in Japandi Style

Interior project for a new home inspired by Japandi aesthetics – a harmonious blend of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian design. The concept relies on light oak and white surfaces, complemented by muted green accents and touches of black metal. Decorative wooden wall panels enrich the clean and tranquil atmosphere of the home.

Project Details

Property: Two-bedroom apartment

Area: 70 sq m

Location: Sofia, Bulgaria

Style: Japandi

Project Year: 2020

Living Area

The living area and kitchen are combined into one bright and spacious open-plan room where functionality and comfort flow seamlessly together. During construction, a long closed corridor was reimagined – its wall removed to create an airy sense of openness. The space is organized with a cozy sofa set, a dining nook, and a streamlined kitchen with built-in appliances.

Master Bedroom

The main bedroom embraces a soft, calming palette, with decorative wooden wall slats behind the bed as its defining feature. Furnishings include an upholstered green bed, a wardrobe with sliding mirrored doors, and a cozy reading corner with a lounge chair by the window. Large mirrors enhance the natural light and visually expand the space. The design remains simple and balanced, with soothing green accents.

Home Office

The second room is designed as a multifunctional space – a home office with a shared desk for two and a compact fitness area. The interior remains minimal and flexible, making it easy to transform the room into a children’s bedroom if needed.

Entrance Hall

The hallway welcomes with a clean look and practical storage in a tall built-in wardrobe. Flooring is finished in gray terrazzo tiles, while sage green accents tie in with the home’s overall color harmony. Black metal details provide a stylish contrast against the light oak surfaces.

Wet Areas

The wet areas are organized as a group with a shared anteroom: a double-sink vanity leads to a separate toilet and a large bathroom with both shower and bathtub. Gray terrazzo floors are paired with white wall tiles, enriched with wood-effect tiles on selected surfaces for a natural accent.
